The radiation dose in CBCT will be briefly reviewed. The European Commission's Evidence Based Guidelines prepared by the SEDENTEXCT Project Consortium will be summarised, and (in)appropriate use of CBCT will be illustrated for various dental applications. SEDENTEXCT IQ DENTAL CBCT A PMMA cylinder (160 mm diameter) with recesses to house test inserts (fig. 1). Within the body of the cylinder are features for the following tests; Noise/Uniformity - The lower section of the phantom is uniform PMMA (density 1.20 +/- 1.00%) Geometric Distortion - An array of 2.0 mm diameter, 3.0 mm deep Air The aim of this study was to determine optimized kV settings for paediatric acquisitions for a dental CBCT device.
CBCT images must undergo a thorough clinical evaluation (radiological report) of the entire image dataset. The SEDENTEXCT guideline is now officially published as European Guideline: Radiation Protection No. 172. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) Working Party on Dental Cone Beam CT Equipment published the national guidelines in 2010. The SEDENTEXCT project (1 January 2008 - 30 June 2011) is focused on enhanced safety and efficacy in the use of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in dental and maxillofacial radiology. In particular, the work plan aims to find solutions to the challenge of this new X-ray imaging modality becoming available to the large community of dentists, medical physicists and other stakeholders in Europe. 2015-03-23 Dental Science research project is used in air, the through-holes (diameter: 0.2–1.0mm) are filled with air, whereas the SedentexCT IQ contrast resolution phan-toms require the insides of some of their holes (diam-eter: 1.0–5.0mm) to be filled with one of five different substances. In some CBCT … 2015-03-01 2017-03-07 Results: The automated IQ evaluation of volume data sets of the dental CBCT system was achieved with the proposed phantom requiring only one scan for the determination of all desired parameters.

Technical evaluation was performed with the SEDENTEXCT-IQ phantom. The IQ and DI phantoms (SedentexCT IQ, Leeds Test Objects Ltd., Boroughbridge, UK) are polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) cylinders, 160 mm in diameter, and 162 mm in height, which approximate the radiographic properties of an adult head. Both phantoms can be mounted on a tripod for positioning in the FOV . a new emerging dental X-ra y modality (SEDENTEXCT) image quality (IQ) phantom in CT, and to evaluate its v alidity .

The introduction of CBCT has dramatically altered the perception on the use of three-dimensional (3D) 2013-11-01 2018-05-15 was to develop a set of ‘‘basic principles’’ of dental CBCT use, using a consensus process amongst the EADMFR membership. Materials and methods This study involved three stages and followed a modified Delphi method to achieve the consensus of EADMFR members on a set of basic principles of dental CBCT use. Published by Oxford University Press. The SEDENTEXCT (Safety and Efficacy of a New and Emerging Dental X-ray Modality) project was a multicentric collaboration, funded by the European Atomic Energy Community's Seventh Framework Programme. Materials and Methods: CBCT images of a SedentexCT IQ phantom and a real skull phantom were obtained under different combinations of tube voltage and tube current (Alphard 3030 CBCT scanner, 78-90 kVp and 2-8 mA). The images obtained using a SedentexCT IQ phantom were analyzed technically, and the physical factors of In this study, the IQ and radiation dose of a dental CBCT machine (CS 9300, Carestream Dental LLC, Atlanta, Georgia) were evaluated using IQ and dose index (DI) phantoms developed by Leeds Test Objects Ltd. (SEDENTEXCT, Boroughbridge, UK) for dental CBCT machines. Both phan-toms are head-sized cylinders (160-mm diameter by 162-mm SEDENTEXCT was a collaborative project that aimed to acquire key information necessary for sound and scientifically based clinical use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in dental and maxillofacial imaging. CBCT images of a real skull phantom and a SedentexCT IQ phantom were acquired under different exposure conditions (one Dinnova3 CBCT scanner, 60-110 kV and 4-10 mA).
